cutting out

My van 82t25 has started cutting out whilst driving again, it does this normally in awkward spots a couple of time a day . i have to pre emt it pull over wait a few minutes then it will restart, normally it runs great and always starts first time..
Any thoughts

OK well first off check the fuel filter located near the fuel tank it should be a nice yellow/orange colour inside if not change it...then remove the pipe to the carb from the pump, attach a tube to the pump and point it into a cup or some thing.Get a friend to crank the engine over 5 times the pump should quarter fill the cup with good strong spurts.
