Hi,

I've got my 1983 T25 with Campershack currently, so hopefully she'll be running very sweetly by the end of the week.
The next phase is for me to completely redo the interior.

My mate reckons that insulating and carpet lining is very time consuming and tricky for the amateur (which I definitely am). Does anyone have any advice on how difficult this is to do and whether I would be better off paying a professional to do this part of the conversion for me?

If so, any ideas on costs roughly and any recommendations of a company that would do just that part of it in the Midlands area?

Good choice for Campershack - she'll be well looked after by Anna and Andy.

I've done a fair bit of interior carpeting myself (and trust me I'm an amateur too) and had good results with the stretch carpet and spray glue that companies such as Mega Van Mats sell (other suppliers are available)...may be worth having a shot yourself.

I can also recommend MadMatz in Kettering http://www.madmatz.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who did the interior refit and re-upholstery of my Bay but they have certainly done carpeting and insulation for other customers (in fact they did a very nice job of insulating my floor and laying tiles over it). Mark and Odette are the owners there and they're away on honeymoon for a few more days but the workshop is manned and they respond to emails.

Failing that try Volkskraft at Fiskerton http://www.volkskraft.co.uk/contact" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; they're mainly a bodyshop / mechanical place but have done a few interiors recently and they've come out very well. They're also really good guys and excellent value. They have a lot of experience on T25s.

Get on ebuys and order 4 way stretch carpet not expensive if it ripples just pull it tight an idiot could not make this stuff look bad . Dougal.

I have never used it and did a complete refit earlier in the year and was amazed at the results!!

I did mine, total novice happy with the results, lasted well so far, mega van mats megastretch and their high temp spray glue.

Actually applying the Mega stretch carpet and sticking it down is very easy indeed. Just ensure you have a very good pair of scissors and a very good retractable knife with plenty of spare blades. Oh and a helper. Knowing where to join sections is probably the hardest part (well, was for me) but anything neat will be fine. After doing it you may find yourself looking at certain parts that perhaps aren't the best but then soon realise in the grand scheme of things the overall finish is pretty dam good considering it was cheaper to do yourself. These minor imperfections are soon forgotten about once the rest of the interior is in place. Posting pictures on here will always help.
