Hi all,
just read that the torque wrench setting for the pulley bolt on my DJ engine is a whopping 350Nm or 258 Ft lb, this seems alot as there's a key and groove on the shaft, so i wouldnt think it could spin undone.
i undid it with an air impact wrench/ wheel nut gun and stopped the crank turning with a flywheel locking tool, but a tool which stops the pulley itself is shown in the genuine manual, i hope there's no danger of twisting or damaging the crank doing it the way i did.
anyone got any advice on refitting it? should i put Loctite on the bolt's threads? is it ok to hold the flywheel stationary while tightening it, or should i make a tool for holding the actual pulley still? course, i may be worrying about nowt, as the crank is a substantial looking bit of metal!

when i swapped me pulleys over duck,i used a short length of flat bar...25mmx5mm..drilled a hole in each end.bolted on end with a clutch plate bolt to the flywheel and the other end has a bolt going into one of the bell housing bolt holes,made it nice and easy for tightening(and undoing!) the pulley and its better to bang a bit of loctite/threadweld on anyway
