Evening all, I have recently bought one of these as the GTi sensor reads low,
Does 1 pin go to ground and the other to gauge.
Hope someone can enlighten me
Cheers

Yes
Did you get a new "O" ring and "U" clip?
Get ready for a couple of pints of smelly coolant to run down your arm, soaking your sleeve, when you pull out the old one
I put a smear of Vaseline around the "O" ring. Not sure why, but it seemed like a good idea at the time

Aside:- For other folk who searched for temp sensor wiring = there are two types, one with a round plug and one with an oblong plug.
I bought the wrong one

But it's a simple matter of making up a short lead with 2 of the small type "Lucar" spade connectors soldered on, secured and protected with heat-shrink, cut off the old plug and join up, I used a chocky block, protected from the elements with Vaseline. It doesn't matter which wire goes where.

Thanks for the reply Ghost, I have not got a plug for this so will be using the 4mm crimp connectors and heat shrink.
I have left the golf temp sensor in as I think the ecu needs info from it and replaced the housing for one with 2 sensor slots. Fortunately it came with a blank plug and c clip which I will use to hold the new sensor.
Thanks for confirming the pins for me. Makes more sense when I tackle the job in a few days

worth checking I thought from memory they were 2.8mm which are harder to come by in shops

Looks like standard JPT (junior power timer) connector is used to me. Use the correct connector as it clips into place unlike using spades. Cheap enough, solder the terminals to the wire.

That link looks like a good buy to me, just check your sender, some have one notch on the plastic housing some have two. That one has one.

A second with a soldering iron sorts that out. Pain when you find it's one of them though.
