Treated my van to a wash today but noticed that some of the old seam sealant is cracking up. Any recommendations on what to use to seal them?

Maybe throw some pictures up for better advice. Usually it's worth scraping out the old sealer with a knife, dremmel or similar. Treat and reseal with a seam sealer. Depends how far you want to go. There are loads of seam sealers out there.

Best sealant is a pu polyurethane sealant in a metal tube like sikaflex or tigerseal.

All the Germans ar now going for post-paint sealed seams, as per Sprinters etc presumably because it reduces seam rash bleed-out from panel joint flex

Thanks for the replies, I've already got some basic silicone in them as they're pretty small and hairline with no rust so I'm going to go with that for now with a touch up top coat. I'll keep an eye on them and tigers eat them once they need redoing.

Silicone? Acetic acid? You will have rust soon enough...

Further to silver bullits thread I am at my resealing stage on my project doka and had thought of resealing as per my vivaro van still as new and bought by me in 04 looks difficult to do.? But has anyone tried and what levels of success have they had prior to a respray

has anyone ever flushed the seams with filler to make a straight panel?

I'm sure it's been done but not many people will buy a van without being able to see the condition of the seams.

I think the filler will crack as the seams flex ever so slightly. I tried it on a mini I owned when aged 16. Not in the trade and didn't know any better back then. It definitely cracked.

Agree, I don't think I would, be interesting to see the finish though!!
