temperature light flashing

Hello everybody another new boy with a question, purchased a 1990 Komet 1900 a few weeks ago this week the temp light is flashing when it feels like it but not on every trip.have no manual but have found top up behind rear number plate is this the right one ? if not where is it behind dash ? and should light flash or stay solid ? Help please

there is another "header tank" that you get to in the engine bay, this may need topping up aswell, sometimes if you have a leak it will not suck new coolant from the top up to replace lost fluid. It may also be the electrical sensor that is in the top up tank that is to blame esp if the light is coming on when the contact are clearly covered.
