strange contraption in my fridge exhaust flue

Hi, I've recently taken the electrolux 3 way fridge out of my camper to give it a bit of a clean after 20 years of not really being used very much.
I found a piece of stiff wire with a finger loop, attached to a narrow twisted piece of metal sitting neatly inside the exhaust flue of the fridge, should it be there?, if it should what on earth is its purpose.
Any help/explanations will be gratefully received as I'm off on holiday soon and would like to know that I'm using the fridge in the correct way. Cheers Matt

Sounds like the remains of a flue cleaning brush that's been left in there by mistake.. So can be discarded, a picture would help confirm though

No ^^^^^^^^^^ all flues should have one. it is a flue baffle and improves the heat distribution to the refrigerant.
Details coming when I find the jpg.

Kinda why I wanted to see a pic, the description in my mind sounded like the flue brushes we use at work.

Thanks Oldiebut goodie that's definitely the thing, i'll leave it in!. One more thing, the images you've helpfully attached seem to stress that it needs to be correctly positioned does that mean that I shouldn't have pulled it out, or is it just referring to it's height within the flue defined by the wire link length?. Cheers Matt

The height is governed by the position of the top circle of wire so you have no worries there as long as you haven't destroyed that. (even so you should be able to see where it was bent originally and so re-instate it)
