No too sure if this should be here or in the campers section.

My fridge is playing up on 12v! I just wired it in, directly to the leisure battery with an in line fuse. I should say its fine on hook up and gas. Anyway, it was fine all weekend. I only had it on 12v when we were driving. We covered about 200 miles no problems. Then, all of a sudden the radio turned off. (its also on the leisure battery). So after a period of investigation I realised that when I turned the fridge to 12v the battery was draining at warp speed according to the voltmeter. Very strange. Any ideas would be appreciated. Its the typical 3 way electrolux if that helps. Cheers

What fridge have you got ? If it is one of the original RM Electrolux fridges they are very power hungry. On 12v the fridge runs 100w at 10amp. Do you have s a split charge relay at all ?

I think it is the original fridge. I do have a split charge relay so battery does charge on the go. It seemed to be fine for friday saturday and a bit of sunday and as I said it was only on 12v when we were on the go??

Sounds like a problem with the split charge relay then. If the battery was not being charged properly that would explain it draining so quickly. You said you had a volt meter, what was it showing when you had the engine running ?

Sorry. Should have been clearer. The voltmeter is just the in built one. It's the old needle type not a digital one. I'll put my multi meter on it tomorrow.

I would check both your main battery and leisure battery with a volt meter, engine running, and compare the difference. If you have a smart split charge relay you may have to wait for the main battery to come upto voltage first.
