I've started work on the mission that is removing and replacing the carpet liner in my van. Does anyone have any pointers on what to use to remove the 30+year old glue  from the van's interior?

I have fitted a fair few carpets mostly in the Mini's I have owned and one of the best tips I ever got was to use WD40 to remove any adhesive from carpets. Worked an absolute dream although im not sure how effective it will be on 30 yr old glue!

I've done the same job recently. You could spend a lot of time scraping at the glue, scratching the panels a lot and getting no where fast. I choose to sand it down using a DA sander. My van was empty at the time so the mess I caused wasn't a problem. However, it was very successful and left a decent surface to stick the new carpet too. My advice is, if you are recovering it, don't get too caught up on removing the glue. The carpet covers well.

Thanks for the tip, the old glue is tough and stuck fast so I'm going to try your method. Cheers :D
