I am looking for a cheap leisure battery to power 2 x LED spot lights long with my stereo head unit and 400w amp

I have been looking at this:

Do you think this will be OK? It will never been used for prolonged period.

Depends what you mean by 'power it'. From experience you'd be lucky if the stereo ran for an hour without something charging it like the alternator or hookup.

By Power it I mean would it run those items for a few hours?

If not then what would be my options with regards to leisure batteries?

volts x amps = watts. Your 400w amp is going to pull 33A on its own. Allowing for heat and other inefficiencies you'll only get 35-40 usable amps out of each of those batteries, so you'll lucky to get three hours.

And you need to be really careful not to flatten the battery - it won't do it any good.

I have 110amp one in a cupboard and the MOST I'll run the stereo for when parked is an hour and if camped, never. That battery has to power my Propex (its main job) and I'd rather be warm than listen to the stereo.

Incidentally, I only use MP3 files on my stereo and I've been looking for a low power portable MP3 player I can run on rechargeable batteries. The Japanese seem to make some great little ones that don't draw much - ideal in the evening when you want some sounds but without the strain on the leisure battery.

I much prefer to be self sufficient and not reliant on hookup so I don't have a TV or DVD player (too power-hungry) but I do have a HUDL which is very economical and I can load it with movies.
