Hello chaps.
how can I check to see if the cooling fan works without running the engine?

Ignition switch in the run position, remove the wiring plug from the temp switch on the radiator, bridge the terminals in the plug.
There's a thread on here somewhere that gives you the colours of the terminal to bridge, there's a common live, then a contact each for the low & high speed circuits (assuming it's the same as a petrol).
