Petrol smell whilst driving

So, Doreen passed her MOT after carrying out quite a fair bit of work on her, over the moon.
decided to go for a bit of a run up the lakes as it was a beautiful day, but shortly into the journey I could smell petrol within the cab. It was only really when I opened the window, which led me to believe that it was coming from the engine bay, with the circulating air in the cab making it more obvious. I had recently refurbished and painted the fuel tank and replaced all the breather hoses etc from the front end, so I knew that should be ok.
After openening up the engine bay I found the connector hoses from the carb had all started to perish badly, with the one from the base of the carb to the air filter being disconnected altogether.
A visit to my local motor factors and replacement of these hoses has seemed to sort out the issue. I had noticed that it was cutting out at low revs occasionally when pulling up at lights on occasions prior to this, so am thinking this could possibly have been causing that too.
Hopefully all sorted now, I have pictures to attach but getting the message "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached" so will not let me post.
Thought this may help some other people,
Cheers
