Rubber Bumper Strip Clips

Hi
I have just managed to get my hands on some decent OEM Chrome bumpers with rubber strip trims.
I need to get the clips for attaching the strips, I have purchased the OEM VW metal clips but was wondering if there is a "female" type gromet that goes in the bumper or if the clips are just used direct into the holes in the bumper?
