Facet pump

This pump is fitted to a cross flow in a Westfield, so not vw what so ever. It's a friends who tinkers and worse of all hits the car with a scatter gun approach - what could be worse?? We've several problems at the moment, the biggest being a road trip starting on Friday, meant to be doing the Evo 400 tour around Wales - not likely unless a miracle happens.

The pump which is a year ok'd and only has a few hundred miles on it from last years tour to Le Mans has started misbehaving, when the ignition is turned the pump happily clicks into life pressurising the system BUT it no longer stood clicking, it just continues. Any ideas as to what the problem may be?

If required, much much more info could be presented, sooo many changes have been made before my involvement.

Currently running twin Dells (half heatedly rebuilt by him and 'tuned' using the naff Gunson manometer), Nodiz ignition.

Will currently run sweet for approx 1 km before getting all erratic, dropping power and back firing, etc. leave too cool for an hour so and it will repeat the above. 3 days ago, we'd got it running really well (my insistence has always been to get it to a rolling road), and then it started doing this.

Plugs were very white before this problem occurred.
Thanks for reading this far, any info will be appreciated.

My kitcar has a facet interuptor pump feeding webers, I had to fit a pressure regulator because the webers couldn't cope with the pressure and the float chambers were overflowing, petrol dripping out of chokes. My pump starts ticking constantly when it is vapour locked, but that only happens when driving at low speed in warm weather and it gets too hot under the bonnet, doesn't sound like that is your problem.

Already have the regulator in place. Not the same, clicking continues when engine is stone cold. Annoying as it wasn't doing it on Friday. Very frustrating.

Leak somewhere between tank and pump sucking air in? Vacuum in tank due to blocked breather?
Rig up feed from petrol can to pump and see how it runs then?
