fuse identification help please

I've rewired the old barrel type fuse box into a new blade fuse box & can't identify what one of the fuses is for. It was on the far right hand side somewhere & shares a feed with the heated rear screen fuse. The feed to both this fuse & the rear screen appears to come from the ignition relay.

The output wire is black & yellow & I believe it disappears off across the dash. Everything seems to work without this fuse, but surely it must serve some purpose. The wiring all looked stock & not redundant unused aftermarket wires.

Ruled out rear wiper as it didn't have one out the factory.
I really hope I don't need to start chasing it round the bus!

Hi

I think this is fuse 12?? In my 1981 Autohomes T25 this supplies the 12V Fridge.

Would that be ignition feed? Only working when engine running sort of makes sense.
At the same time, my bus was a bus, not a camper, so I guess fridge is unlikely?

Had enough & started dismantling stuff.

The output wire goes to a relay by the steering coloum. Yes, the fuse is for the rear wiper.

Turns out the whole harness is there, but is cut just before the boot.
There's even a hose & wire feeding down to what I can presume is the rear fill bottle, but I don't have access to.

The stalk has obviously been replaced at some point as the green/white trigger wire from the stalk to the relay is connected to nothing, as in there's a wire in the multiplug, but nothing on the stalk for it.

So, tomorrow, rewire the wiper motor into the loom & test with signal onto the multiplug.
If that's all good, order a new wiper stalk!

Worth noting that the general feeling is that VW only added a rear wiper as a showroom selling point as it was during the 80s when they started appearing more commonly on cars but the angle of the glass on cars was about 45 degrees so probably made some sense. On an almost vertical plane, a rear wiper is virtually superfluous.

I still have my complete wiper, motor and bottle languishing in the shed. I found a monthly dose of Rain-X worked much better and water just doesn't tend to accumulate there - runs straight off. The only time I've had to clean back window (rare) is when entire vehicle is caked in mud by which time it all needs a wash anyway. That said, I still think that additional switch movement on the stalk could be put to better use. If I could just wire it to the 'take phone call' button on stereo, that'd be good. :ok
