What is this thing hanging by my gas tank & guages?

As the subject says - I've got a new van and don't know what this is?? Or where to put it? Any ideas - apologies if this is something stupid

Hehe I did think that Marty - but it's missing a few bits. That said photos of my relatives are disappearing..

could it be the heater for the gas pipe? i know westys have a toggle switch to warm the gas up on freezing days, but I've never seen it to know what it looks like..

I found this below - For anyone else who stumbles across this thread it clips on the regulator I think like this picture here:
