Oil change interval. A little bit overdue!

Ive been putting my oil change in my 1.6 td engine for quite some time now. The reason for this is that the sump plug wont come out and every time I change the oil I end up having to get it sucked out the top of the engine. So now Ive got a handy stud extractor which will get the sump plug out so, seeing as my van is now 5000, yes thats right, 5000 miles overdue an oil change, is there anything else I should do as well as just changing the oil? I got some flushing gunk that you put in with the old oil before draining it cause I imagine theres quite a bit of sludge in the bottom of the case at this stage. Any other suggestions?

Why not unscrew the oil feed pipe that goes from the sump to the turbo.I did this as an alternative .

I wouldnt use any engine flush.... better off using a cheaper oil and changing it every 1000-2000 miles and a filter every second...

you can allways turn it upside down and shake out the last few drops !

engine flush is not recommended with turbo's as it can loosen hard deposits which could find there way into the the turbo's bearings, at least thats what what I was told many years ago, but recommended before a turbo replacement.

Hmmmm! Please, tell me more! I thought the oil feed for the turbo came from the oil filter, not the sump.

Yeah but there is all kinds of gunk hanging about in the system.. turbo oil feed pipes of certain other cars can give problems.. through carbon/crap build up... there is also a lot of other gunk couting the inside of the engine.. the can come loose and block the oil filter and then the oil filter bypass opens... then nothing is filtered...
Do you want to risk it??
Up to you... but if your turbo/engine goes in a short period of time since using it.. is it just coincidence?
I have heard of several peoples engines going shortly after.. of course the "flush" manufacturer wouldnt accept it was their product that caused it.. who would on a 100k mile + engine...
I would just do several oil and filter changes in a short time..

I would avoid using the engine flush - a mechanic in Leam told me it ws the worst thing to do - it will break all the seals and then you will lose a lot of oil.
Just get the oil changed and a new filter is all you need
