How can I tell if my square headlights on my LHD van have been replaced with RHD units .
I can't power them up at the moment to see which way they dip

Thanks Gents
And another daft question, with the square lamp setup,, outer lamp is sidelight , dip and main ?
Inner lamp main beam ?
I bought this van as a non runner and I'm finding a lot if bodged wiring. So not sure how things should be.
Maybe it's time a bought a manual, I keep hearing about Bentley, is that the one to get. Looks pricey, £75 on ebay

So I want to do the headlight wiring mod, and seeing as the wiring to the headlamps looks crusty I would like to replace the lot. I'm thinking of going for relays behind the grill to keep the high powe cables short . I know it's more difficult to access if a relay fails but then again it is very crowded around the fuse board.
Then I've thought of running a separate heavy cable, from leisure batteries to a bus bar located high in the passenger footwell. I could then locate relays for headlamps and any further additions there

Hi Mark, IMO the best solution would be to refurbish the front harness (I have all the correct terminals), and fit the headlight relays to the top of the relay plate. (I'm assuming the van has 'late' electrics ?) This places the relays out of harms way, retains the standard fuses, and keeps the installation tidy and factory-looking. If you want me to come and fit your dash upgrade (should you go for that) I could fit the relays at the same time.
PS. There are some wiring diagrams on my website.

Hi Andy
That would be very helpful. If you are available to do that and the dash then i can stop scratching my head as electrics are not my strong point.
Do you have some relay bases that clip onto the fuse board, as i cant find any.
There are several redundant wires and scotch locked bodgery going on which i would like to sort out.

Only RHD headlamps have the arrow pointing to the curb, LHD are sans an arrow as they are considered the standard lamp.

Ahh . that explains it. Mine must still be LHD lamps.
Looks like i will have to convert to twin round lamps then ?
Anybody got any round lamps and grill?

Stay with the squares, just add deflectors. Square so much better than twin rounds in my opinion.

I think its what you get used to. Had both and prefer round.

Don't beam deflectors reduce the performance of the lamp?
Can you pass the MOT with them on.

Can't pass without them (well you can if the mot tester isn't paying attention)
