Front grill removal and painting

Morning
I want to take off the front grills and give them a paint.
Do they just unscrew off?
Are the fixing clips reusable or do I need to buy new?
It's a Caravelle so originally had chrome outer edge, can I rub this down and paint it black?
Do I need to prime or is it just wasting time?
Any tips/hints on how to do it will be appreciated.

Yes you can reuse clips on lower front (three screws). Upper grill you just turn screw to unclip. Yes you can run fown (800 about right) and spray.

If you have access to one - a light sand blast is good preparation for using matt black spray. Gets into all the little corners that you can't by hand.

Local blasting people will usually charge a tenner to do a grill. The best form of prep possible and requires zero elbow grease

I used Satin black on mine after a quick rub down with some wet and dry, came up a treat.

All done
Took them off and washed them in warm soapy water
Rubbed them down with sandpaper then dusted off
Spray-painted with black satin from the poundshop - 2 tins
Within 2 hours all dry and back on the van
Finish is brilliant, I am well happy with them
All for £2 lol
