Bull bars. Anyone got one? How do they fit?

Just got a Bull Bar for my van but a little confused as to how It is supposed to be fitted. Only seems to have 2 mounting holes that are usable and highly doubt two bolts are man enough to hold its weight! I'm thinking that perhaps its been modified in the past but having never seen another up close or fitted one I have no idea.
This is it:

Two mounting holes are visible here on the ends. Though does appear to be another two further up near where the grille would be but don't see how they could be used?

I have some very similar but not fitted them yet, the lower bracket on yours looks like it's been cut and is shorter than mine, also there should be a pair of secondary brackets that fit above the chassis rail and then bolt together.
I notice you are in Worcs, I am in evesham, you are more than welcome to pop over for a look.

I don't agree with them but read this from the RAC
http://www.rac.co.uk/forum/showthread.p ... to-trouble" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so I don't think the fitting of them is illegal.

my views aside, its the 2.5 ton flat fronted van behind them that will hurt the most

Prohibition of retrofitting of bull bars
‘The Road Traffic Act 1988 is amended as follows—In section 41(2), after paragraph (l) insert—
“(m) prohibiting the modification or retrofitting to the front of vehicles which reduce the crashworthiness of the vehicle.”.'
E D I T
Passed into law May 2006. Road Safety Act brought in the banning according to EU directive.

Thanks Gusbang. I did think they had been modded but cant see why anyone would have! I know your local but could you take a pic of yours for me?
I thought you'd pop up for a whinge oldiebut goodie as when using the search your name appeared all over Bull bar threads. Can only think you must have been run down by a vehicle with one
The way I look at it theres Loads of people fitting these after market. Not one has been questioned on it, go through MOT and police couldn't care less. Its only us pandering to the EU with silly pedestrian laws. The road is for vehicles pedestrians shouldn't be there.
These actually improve/ make no difference to crash worthiness of older vehicles, especially T25's with their flat front!
Plus this was fitted from new anyway

Yep no problem, PM me your mobile number and I will text a photo over.
Give me a couple of days as need to dig them out of my shed.

Moneypit.
Why fit one?
Your attitude to fellow humans is what typifies the modern driver. " I am all right, I don't care about killing the person that I hit" . Crazy.
We are not pandering to the EU - a bill prohibiting them was before the House of Lords at the same time as the EU was processing the directive, the bill was superceded by the directive.

FWIW I dont think that is a T3 front guard. The vertical beams should curve under the front into a pair of longitudinal rectangular plates with 6 holes in each. They bolt to the bottom of the chassis rails. It is also necessary to remove the front recovery eye iirc.
OBG Out of interest: according to that law, would mounting a spare wheel on the front also be illegal?

Or the fitting of a winch.

I have no idea where the law stands on recovery devices. There must be a lot of Warns and Superwinches sold in the UK to LR owners. Are they all breaking the law?
If its about crash worthiness, any syncro that has had the front beam relocated (to improve the front approach angle when offroad) is by definition illegal.

It must be the same with any under slung front LPG tanks as it changes the front deformation crash structure

How does it change it?
