Hello all,
Stuck on replacing the front brake splash guards at the moment.7
As I thought, the screws wont budge, and if I try probably make them worse.
Can anyone tell me what to do/purchase so I can remove these?
Will heating them up make any difference?
Cheers for your advice
Dave

Hi Dave, I have just done this job on my van, mine where so rusty that there was no guard left and all 6 screws where seized solid.
The way I did mine was using a propane blow lamp, heat one up until very hot, then using a large flat blade screwdriver and a club hammer, made a slit at the top of the screw, and hit it in a anticlockwise direction, once it moved 45 degrees I would make another slit at the top and repeat.
This worked for 5 of the 6, sods law but one sheared the head off, so I had to drill it out and re tap the thread.
Good luck with yours.

Just about to do this myself.
Do you know where I can source the 6 screws?
VW Heritage list this but it looks strange:

Plenty of Plusgas and let it soak in overnight.
Then an impact screwdriver and a small club hammer.
Something like this.

Unfortunately when I bought my splashguards from BW they did not come with screws, they are the early type so not sure if they don't stock them but they are not in the description for early ones.
Any ideas what I need?
