Throttle sticking wide open !

Hi all , (T3 / Pierburg carb )
Having had my throttle jam open a couple of times when under load ,I was advised that the second choke vacuum unit was faulty ; when removed it did appear to have no vacuum compared to the new one from Brickwerks .
However , having replaced it the problem is still there .Is there something else which assists its operation that is not working ? I am able to isolate the unit and the engine runs fine alone .
If anyone has any ideas , I would be most grateful .

Does the cable move freely?

Thanks Kev ,
Yes ; we started by replacing the cable before fitting the new vacuum unit .

You can check operation, open throttle, remove vac pipe from carb and suck on it, you may need to borrow a longer pipe off the dizzy.

Thanks for your reply ;
Yes the unit seems to be functioning , but sticks open when rev 'd hard eg : when going through the gears or when going uphill .

need to take carb off and have a good look at the cam on both the throttle linkage and the vac linkage, they work together and should be in line, the throttle prevents second choke opening at idle and closes second choke on falling throttle.
my guess is yellow plastic bits broken or warped

Sounds promising . Sometime back I had an RAC guy remove and flush out the carb relating to another issue . He Accidentally dropped it and something plastic broke , which he managed to glue back together . May be it was this bit ? It will be a couple of weeks before I can investigate , but I'll let you know .
Many , many thanks for now .

O K , we tried to see the plastic part you mentioned using a mirror and it appears not to be there at all ! Do you think its possible to have lost it completely ? I 'm pretty sure it was the one end of this that was broken off and glued back on ( left end in your photo ) Before taking it apart , I'd like to source a replacement : any ideas where I should start looking ?
Tks again.

Always worth picking up a second hand carb or two if this van is a keeper, easiest supply of spare parts and good to look at off the vehicle to learn about them.
next time an RAC man breaks something ask for a new one not a bodge repair, they are insured for it, in fact if you remember the details worth a phone call asking for compensation.
