Urgent! Which coolant do I use?

I have a 1983/84 t25 campervan about to do my FIRST ever trip in it. Realised the coolant was low (I think that's why the little led red light is flashing on the dashboard)
Which coolant do I use? I've been trawling this Internet for an hour and can not find and answer.
Help!!

The important thing to remember is not to mix types, ie stick with the colour you have unless draining and flushing system.

Depends what the previous owner put in. If they used a blue antifreeze & you top it up with pink it will cause problems.
To be safe just top it up with water for now then maybe do a coolant change when you get back?

Ah! Okay maybe that's the way forward then...
...is there anyway to check what colour is in there already? Anyone got any tips or tricks on that?

Yes. If you can't tell, flush the lot out and start again - you'll need to.
In Euro Car Parts clearance section, they're selling 20 litres for £29 which you could split with a mate. Its cheap to say the least.

The trick here is to look at some of it with your eyes

- If it looks red / pink then top up with red / pink and if it's greeny yellow, then top up with that. Oh heck, I sound as sarcastic as Kev now
Mind you, as said, if your not sure of how long it is since whatever colour coolant is in there was changed, best drain, flush and re-fill with the correct 500/50 mix of water and G12 (Red) stuff.

I'd not thought of this before; but why shouldn't you mix different antifreeze? Is a 'top up' say, while on holiday ok?

It can go gooey if you mix types. Wouldn't advise it. Besides, red is the right stuff. Most owners carry some if they're away. Better to top up with water rather than mix blue/red.

I had BLUE In there so I topped up blue.
All sorted!
Thanks guys. Really glad I didn't accidentally mix my coolants - that could have led to all sorts of problems longer term
Have a great weekend all!
