Water filler gasket

Hi

I have removed my water filler point along with my 240v socket outlet to repair some corrosion. When I removed them the gasket seemed to be a monstrous amount of some kind of grey sealant.

What is the best thing to use to replace? Is a sealant the way to go, or is some kind or rubber gasket a better option?

Thanks

Silicon gasket rather than rubber I'd say. I bought one of those silicon sheets you lay on worktops to avoid damage from hot pans. They're great for cutting up for gaskets like that - cheap too.

I used this stuff when sealing all the vents and external sockets on my previous van

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARAVAN-MOTOR ... 4897.l4275" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Sounds like what your describing, very easy to work with

Sorry MM I've got all the cabinets back in and will have to fund a good pic. If I understand the oversill correctly then I followed CovKids advice and trimmed it back yto good steel arrested and painted it. Hopefully this will let it breathe , I have also opened up the drain holes at the bottom so no water should sit there.

I'll find the pics and post then in the other thread.

That ebay link doesn't seem to work for me lloydy.

Cheers

Thanks working now, got it on my laptop but won't open on my phone. That looks great for my rectangular power socket, but I may struggle with the round water filler.

Ill give the silicon a go.

Thanks all
