Does anyone know where I can get a new / replacement carburetor for my 1980 air-cooled 1600 T25 ?

Not available new but earlier Bay window carburettors can be adapted with some parts off the old carburettor. Why do you need to change it? Unless it has a cracked or corroded body they can easily be repaired/refurbished.

Just had MOT and service - all good after a year of having things replaced and updated but the garage said the carb had 'seen better days' and they had patched it up but ideally I should have it replaced. They are my local garage, I know them well and trust their judgment, done my car for years and very appreciative of my van.

There are plenty of carb specialists who can refurbish the carb as double 7 listed above and Gower and Lee, Southern Carburettors.
Where abouts are you ?

Ring Roger Ball in Clacton. He knows V-dub carbs and will advise you. He does mail order and can rebush it for you (the only wear there is) and when it comes back, fit a gasket kit. If you ring him, tell him Ralph gave you his number.
The others are good but it could cost a lot more. Lots on here have used him.
