Anyone have a 5/8" BSP L/H tap I could borrow? Should match a UK propex regulator thread as I need to recut a US Pol thread inside a service valve so it will take a UK regulator.
This kind of thing:

Hi, have you tried Tracy Tools, they list a 5/8"bsp Rh tap £5 and say to contact them for LH versions. It is a bit of an obscure size

Well spotted. Many thanks - will get me out of a hole (excuse the pun!)
Ordered. Decided as I can't get a UK Pol regulator in a US Pol valve (fractionally too tight due to thread pitch), I'll recut it.

Tap arrived so if anyone else needs to cut or recut a POL (propane thread), I've got the tool.
Had a couple of friends who advised me not to go this route and instead make up an adapter but as the difference between US and UK Pol threads is so slight, it makes more sense to make the valve compatible by just cutting it correctly. Its only brass.

All done. Ran the tap into the valve, cleared out the swarf and regulator fits perfectly. Its now under back seat and I have gas - without having to buy those expensive calor bottles ever again. Just need to connect a hose and refill point once I've used up whats in there.
That said, its full so it could be a very long time (year at least) before its empty.
Some of you will remember I bought this tank on ebay for £26 - full of gas. Just had a hunch it wasn't an LPG tank as described, and I was right - its a vapour rather than liquid tank. I've repainted it since photo below. After that I'll be able to top up on gas at forecourts. Way to go.
