No fuel gauge!

My fuel gauge has completely packed up, I've changed the fuse which was old and knackered, but no difference. What else could it be?

I have a similar issue in my new Doka.
I have been told its most likely to be the sender in the fuel tank, accessible from the back left wheel arch. Brickwerks sells them.
Worth checking the wire contyinuity first though, just in case.

Could be the voltage stabiliser, on pcb behind fuel gauge/clock. Need to check with multimeter. You can check gauge by connecting the gauge terminal that goes to the tank sender to ground, gauge should then show full if working. Could also be dodgy multiway connection to pcb.

Hey Guys, any update on this as my Fuel Gauge has also stopped working.. I will do a couple of checks and let you know my findings.. Do you need to remove the Fuel Tank to replace the sender unit??
Thanks

As said, check voltage regulator first. Its the three-legged component on the back of the dash clocks. If you remove cowling, with door open you can view it from outside through windscreen. Only needs a slightly iffy connection (its a push-on one) for fuel guage to stop working.

Bear in mind if you are watercooled with temp gauge, if the temp gauge is working then the voltage regulator is OK.

Ah, great thanks... I am watercooled with a fully functional temp gauge so I guess it's pointing towards the sender unit.. Is it gonna be a fuel tank right out job???
Thanks for your help..

Thought i should revitalize an old thread on the same subject rather than start a new one.
Does anyone know where i can buy the voltage stabiliser for the fuel gauge for my 82 Aircooled panel van? I've tried the usual places(GSF. Brickwerks, JK) but couldn't find the right one.

You need a TCA700Y regulator. Not that easy to find nowdays but there are some on Ebay. Otherwise use a LM7810 which has the outside terminals reversed so it has to be fitted back to front.
