Hi all i have a problem, there seems to be a slight hesitation on acceleration when pulling away i need to blip throttle,i have had the carb cleaned out all jets all filters,new fuel filter there is no leaks around carb and all vacuum pipes are sound. Would it be down to the coil? Also the fuel nowadays isnt to clever to for older engines so would it be worth putting in additive to the fuel? I have changed leads,plugs,rotor arm and dizzy cap.

No need for any fuel additives in T25's WBXs.

(Aside = Mine runs in LPG most of the time, but if I need to put petrol in I tend to avoid the ones with Ethanol in, and pay the bit extra for the premium petrol. I know our vans don't need it, but I prefer to use it. I reckon it's more responsive and gives slightly better performance and therefore mpg. However, it won't fix your problem)

This hesitation on moving off (and sometimes when changing gear or flooring it to overtake) seems to crop up quite often on here

The main causes are a fault in the accelerator pump in the carb, but I guess you will have checked that, also the secondary butterfly pull down unit can give problems, the test is to suck on the pipe to check for operation and / or a leaking diaphragm. You say you have checked for air leaks, but that is another cause of this type of misbehaviour, did you check the brake servo hose? (l/h side of inlet manifold).

Personally I doubt if it is the coil, but it could be If it were I, I would likely find someone who could lend me a known good one for elimination purposes, same with the ignition amp module (black box in front of where the coil is).

Check the vaccum on the distributor is working and the tube/pipe has no leaks. Also verify timing.
