Space above the transmission

Hi,
I've a hankering for an external gass tank however after a great chat with Steve I can't fit a westy style tank as the van is a tad too low (5omm Avos) hand has insufficient ground clearance, putting it back to stock is no good as it needs to be this low just to fit in the garage door.
I was wondering if any one has fitted a tank in the space above the transmission, I was looking at the Tinlytech single hole tanks 200mm x554mm.
I can't get under to have a measure until the weekend, just wondering if anyone has done similar.
Cheers
Si

Bit of an update,
I've been under with the measuring stick and there is a space 250x850 pretty free of obstructions bar the odd moveable pipe, and there is still plenty of clearance above the starter motor.
So either
http://www.gasure.co.uk/gasfit.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or the single hole tank here,
http://www.tinleytech.co.uk/acatalog/Va ... -Kits.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Both work out at pretty much the same price.
Ah how will you get it in without dropping the transmission

I hear you all saying.
Well the previous owner cut a big hole in the deck to drop a 200x400 floor safe in there

, it's never used and the space would be great for fitting the tank through.
A samba thread shows a similar but much bigger hole

Any thoughts or experiences?
Cheers
Si

I like that idea, I wonder what it does to rigidity? Have read T25 body flexes quite as bit as it is.

Considered the same, just a bit of a pig to connect up. Not a massive tank either.

Hi,
There is only a very small pressing welded in transversely, I think the main structural ridgitity is kept by the engine bay bulkhead and the curve forming the slope down to the main cargo floor.
The 4 hole tank from Gassure is supposedly a direct replacement for the origional westy tank, and I think it will fit in without too much work.
