Hi, according to Wiki I need to follow the instructions as set out in Haynes but I can't seem to find out if the fan assembly comes off with the radiator or do you take it off before? And any other tips anyone might have would be gratefully appreciated thank you

Changed Vinnie's radiator last month.
I believe you can remove the fan & shroud in-situ, but drop the rad (I was on my own so lowered it on a trolley jack) and the fan comes with it. Just disconnect the wiring to the fan & thermoswitch first and it all drops out pretty easy, then a few bolts to remove the fan shroud from the rad.. Wasn't as heavy as the Haynes made out either.

And watch the wee rubber cones on the rad mountings, they disappear in the blink of an eye!

I did mine with the fan and shroud in place. Tis a lot easier if there are two of you. Trying to hold it up, with those rubber cones in the right place, whilst you get the bolts in, without an assistant, is a bit of a faff. My cardboard air deflector thingies were pretty shot, so I left them off. I intended to make summat up but never got round to it. No ill effects noticed.

Cheers guys it is a 2 spanner rated job according to Haynes so I am going to give it go this morning.

Old one out, just and new one about to go in after coffee.

Temp gauge reading the same as before ?

Not sure about the bleeding but water is coming out of the bleed plug but the radiator is not getting very hot, temperature gauge is as it was before so I am guessing everything is ok will check levels again tomorrow

They can take ages to heat up due to the amount of water in our cooling systems. On a "normal" day, parked up, ticking over, I reckon up to half an hour before the rad fan kicks in.

In the 14 years I have had it I think the fan has cut in half a dozen times, it is diesel and I don't think they run that hot?
