Any quick tips please

I know this has come up before but I could not find exactly what I was looking for. I need to adjust my accelerater cable I believe it to be slack and beleive it will improve my bus. We're abouts do I do this. I just need a bit of guidance. My engine is 1.9 petrol 1985. Many thanks
