Hi guys,

I have an under slung LPG tank for cooker etc and took it off as i need to rerun pipes, anyway looking at he thing in the picture, not sure whats it called but from looking at other pics i see the level gauge is missing!

Does this matter , is it safe without! Was positioned so I couldn't see it anyway!!

Also, tank has peeled paint, is it ok to underseal it ?

Should be as the tanks normally have overfill protection. Painting tank a good thing to do although wouldn't use underseal personally.

It has the overfill protection valve, all in tact from what I can see, just the gauge fell off cracked!

Why not underseal, what would you use?

Hammerite probably. Underseal can trap moisure and it could hide rust beneath. Also be a nightmare to deal with in the future coated with that.

As it happens I have a similar job to do painting a 40 litre internal tank. Red seems to be a common colour for domestic tanks on vehicles although if you want it less conspicuous, black hammerite (the smooth version) might suit you better. One of the £8 tins more than enough. It also means with fresh paint on it, you can monitor its condition and/or hose it off as required.

I have hammerite, so that's what it will be! Yea I see new tanks are red, I'll stick with black!,

Whilst on the subject of gas, do you or anyone know if I can run 8mm to an engine vaporiser and then reduce to 6mm as it connects! I'm renewing the pipes and have plenty of 8 mm!!

Another q if I may!

The van has under slung and engine lpg fuel tank, the filling loop is connected to both so presume when it hits 80% its stops and the same for the other depending on which fills first!!

Q: could I put an inline isolation valve so I could just fill one tank if required??

yes any good plumb base should have 8mm to 6mm coupling use some paste like jet blue will be fine
