Stainless Steel Exhaust. T25 Aircooled, P. 1600 ct Engine.

Hi all,

My exhaust is pretty ropey....and to be honest am sick of messing around with it and paying out loads on bits.

Van is T25 Aircooled, Petrol, and has a standard 1600 ct engine.

Several questions...

1) Can I just get standard stainless steel J tubes for a Type 2 1600 engine? Will these fit onto a ct engine.

2) If I go down this route, what silencer box will fit onto tubes? Ideally a stainless steel one.

3) What do I do about the tubes that warm up the inlet manifold?

4) Has anyone else done this, got any advice?

Many Thanks.

Hello,

Aaah.. the joys of the little CT engine.. :)

Yours, like mine is an early model, with 'big' heads, decompression shims, and the dreadful 'Hall effect' ignition..

There is more to this than meets the eye.. in that

You will need a custom made set of adaptors..
3) What do I do about the tubes that warm up the inlet manifold?

These are vital as they heat the plenum chamber which is to be considered as a part of the Solex Pict 34/4 carb..(one of the best ever)
4) Has anyone else done this, got any advice?

Here is my first CT video.. on Vimeo.. its a bit long, but if you stick with it.. there is a lot of detail on building up the exhausts..

Your best bet is buy NOS heater bits.. change the tube under the van.. probably crushed above the fuel tank and all the foam gone manky.

Mine works fine... really... I go ski ing and have no problem cruising in -7C.. I may fit a bilge ventilator to boost the demist.. no fan on the dashboard..

I'm going to do a video this year on uprating the CT engine.. using mine as the donor.. so there will be more details

Hope this helps..
