Need a gear stick miracle

Betsy's gear stick has snapped off.
This is the second time. Last time (Christmas eve!) it was welded back on, just a bit shorter.
Well that hasn't lasted.
So, is it true that you can't get the right gear sticks for love nor money?
Weird thing is that both times that the gear stick has snapped off we have had a fuel leak. How can they be connected?
(The fuel tank is new)

Any tips on finding it Silverbullet? Been key word searching but nothing relevant is jumping out at me.

or you could fit a new solid gearstick, you might have to adapt the pivot ball to 14mm if yours is 12mm stick, Brickwerks will be able to supply the necessary parts and guide you through the process

Worth overhauling the whole linkage if the gearstick has snapped. I have put a brand new genuine gearstick in mine because old one kept snapping just over the repaired area. I have tried both inserting a piece of metal inside it and sliding a tube over the weak spot. But it allways spapped next to the repaired area after a few months.

Thanks donciuz, I guess that will jack the price up

but I will discuss it with the garage as I think that will be our problem.

I managed to get a genuine kit (all of this in one box) for the linkage on german ebay. The listing said this kit to be used after 200k km. But you can get all of this separately at brickwerks.
Also bougth a new gearstick. Bernd jager (Germany) as brickwerks was not listing 5 speed lhd gear sticks at that time.
Did all the repairs myself
What an improvement in gear change after all this was installed. You would not believe. Worth every penny.
