Hope you can access these pictures but couldn't post them directly because of too many pixels.

Anyway van wouldn't start today and although AA guy got it started, burnt out glow plug fuse, he was unsure wether the fuel lines from the fuel filter were set up correctly. He seemed to think the hand primer should be on the other pipe to the engine. The hand pump is on the return feed and the arrow on the hand pump points towards the filter. Dosent effect running of the van but when you pump the pump it dosent reinflate very quickly. We noticed also air bubbles in the fuel lines from the filter to the engine, the AA man seemed to think there might be a problem with the fuel sender in the tank as some kind of silicon had been used to connect the pies to the filter.
If you cant access the pics I will try and post some lower resolution one tomorrow.

It wont matter too much what pipe the primer is on as it is you are using it to pull fuel through the pump as opposed to pushing it as you normally would with one of those.

As for the air bubbles the best advice without seeing it is to replace all of the flexi sections and the thermo valve in the top of the filter and go from there. The sender in the tank has nothing to do with the fuel delivery on these vans.

No sealant should ever be used near fuel especially silicone as it tends to break down into lumps which will block things up and cause problems.
