I would consider changing the pressure switch first

Anyway 16000 later I am still ignoring it. I did have a plan to fit an oil pressure guage to each sensor point and have bought them, so far have been thwarted by the length of the guage pipes and a general lethargy towards the whole problem, meanwhile I am saving for a new engine!
Forgive me if i'm wrong but i seem to recall reading somewhere that the later genuine vw low oil pressure switch was modified/reduced to 0.25 bar to stop the low pressure warning system alarming/making the oil light flash.
I will explore the lower oil pressure switch, thanks for all input
