I'm in the process of welding in a swivel base but on a dummy run I noticed that the seat belt anchor blocks it from going around!

My van has the anchors mounted on solid strip steel. I think that just changing the angle isn't the right solution - neither is shortening the mounting strip.

The obvious solution I think is to change the mount for one with a flexi mounting rather than solid - is this what other have doe or am I missing an easy fix.

Otherwise, the fitting of the swivel has been as straight forward as defying gravity!!!

Do you mean the female part of the seatbelt? The part nearer the centre of the van? If so, just push it down.. they move out the way. Unless you have something non standard?

If you are talking about the receiver, they do come in a shorter version.

Lloyd , NT - yes, the bit down the side of the seat, the receiver.
Mine are on flat strip, they don't move. They could move if I slacked of the bolt but then it would drop to the floor.

I'll try and post a pic tonight to see if its none standard

The later vans have a thick wire as opposed to the bar, this means it can be just pushed out the way.

the bolt is tight, if I push it down the bolt loosens.

I'm thinking the easiest is shorten and re-drill. The bolt can remain tight and it can stay at the best angle.

As already said, there was a shorter one available.
I changed the one on ours coz I kept forgetting to lower the longer one.

I took photos if mine earlier but for some reason there is a pixel height issue or something.

On my drivers side there isn't a swivel base due to ABS components. The receiver on this side is the same as you have. On the passenger side where there is a swivel it is the shorter type.

I can email pics if it helps? I'm sure you are very capable of shortening the one you have. So I think this is the best solution.

would a nyloc nut not hold it tight but give it a bit of movement without loosening it?

Or threadlock on the bolt.

That's the plan, i'll cut it at the bend, re-drill and form another bend.

Can't you simply replace the bar set-up with the later version, that's on a flexi cable? All you have to do is swap them over.
