in the middle of converting my Aircooled van to subaru engine i bought a new radiator & have fitted hoses front to back my question is the hose that comes out of the bottom of rad does it go to the one on the bottom of subaru engine ?

Depends upon which radiator you have fitted.

thanks for that i have the same as 1st pic so the bottom hose from rad would go to the bottom hose on the subaru engine ?

I don't know. Depends upon which is inlet and which is outlet on the engine.

the bottom hose on the subaru engine goes into the water pump across the thermostat, this is the return, the send is the metal pipe on the top of the engine

ok thanks for that , i,m glad i asked as i would of put them round the wrong way ! ' i have the reversed coolant manifold from rjes & just ordered the coolant pipes so hopefully should get it running soon

just out of interest where did you mount your rad? Did you cut a hole in front to mount it where the vw watercooled one would go

hi , yes put it where the watercooled ones fit & had to cut the front panel
i got hold of the bottom mounts & also the top one which i chopped out of a van that was
being broken , once i got it out i drilled out the spot welds before fitting it on mine

Sounds like a propper job mate. Got to be much better than under the bus. Is she all up and running now then.

no not running yet just put a mr2 stainless exhaust on which i won off ebay for £1.04 but felt a bit guilty so gave the seller £2 & told him to keep the change , i have my modified loom off rjes to put on & sort coolant hoses then i can fire it up

Nice one. I couldn't resist. I fired mine up for 15 secs with no coolant or exhaust lol. Won't do any harm. Good luck!
