Buying batteries and basic service parts

There's been a discussion on here, about buying batteries of e-bay. The best place to look for parts like that and basic service parts, is on places like the eurocarparts site. They do batteries for our vans, from less than £40 up to £80 at the moment, to suit various budgets.
Recently, I found a brand new part unavailable in the UK, by putting the part number into Google. Found it from a supplier in France. So, my advice is, only go to e-bay as a last resort, for stuff that is not available from VW specific parts suppliers.

EuroCarParts, GSF, VW Heritage , Just Kampers and many more of the so called VW suppliers all trade on eBay so I'm not really sure what you are getting at. EBay is just another 'shop window' as far as retailers are concerned. The irony is that often parts are advertised more cheaply on eBay than they are available in their shops.

Recently I've had an exide excel battery 71ah £56 and a powerline 72ah battery for the T25 £43.50 and also a 110ah leisure battery Auto elite £56.00 all delivered free and all great batteries from ebay. The exide replaced my banner starter battery which managed just 3 yrs and cost over £60.00 from eurocarparts. The powerline replaced a platinum 096 battery which lasted 6 yrs used as a leisure battery with continuous solar charge. The Auto elite has just replaced my caravan battery which was an 'orange' battery from towsure which also lasted 6 yrs.(I killed this one by forgetting to top it up) The prices are very competative and now we will see how long they last!!!
