How do you make steering wheel fit

Good evening all
Just purchased a replacement wheel for my 1980 T25, its from a 1991 Golf GTi. The hole on the new steering wheel is larger than the old one, so the wheel does not fit on shaft snugg.
I know loads of people have changed them, any knowledge shared would be welcomed

or get a steering wheel off an Audi 80 or 90 from 1986 onwards. I have got a lovely leather one fitted to my 88E panel van. Not much help for you now, but if you have a leather Golf steering wheel (G60), they usually go for about £40, the Audi ones you can pick up off ebay for £10-15!

bolt straight on. You swap the plastic bit over (the bit that cancels the indicators) and cut a bit off the Audi one to use as a spacer, to get your horn and indicators to work properly. I was going to take some pics of mine and post them, but never got round to it.
You shoould be able to sort it easily, 15-30 minutes (but be careful you don't snap the plastic - take it slowly)
