Vacuum hose. Brickwerks prob do it but to be honest any motor factors will sort you some out. Take it along with you for reference. You want a snug fit though - remember that.

Hi thanks CovKid - I should perhaps have explained, I don't actually have the original piece of tubing to take anywhere...

The hose I had on mine when I bought the van last spring wasn't braided like the one on the pic (i've "borrowed" the pic. for illustration purposes) it was split causing me stalling issues under braking as soon as the clutch was pressed to change down gear. The mechanic I use (nice old-school chap) replaced it with a piece of clear hose which worked well for a couple of miles until it got warm and soft and collapsed under vacuum. He then had a dig around in his garage and replaced it with what I think he called "diesel run-off pipe" which looks similar to the stuff in the picture. This solved the problem for many, many issue-free miles all over summer. Last week I took the van for a drive to blow away the winter cobwebs. I drove it to work (30miles) no probs. Then I drove home again and after about 29miles (1 mile from home!) the stalling symptoms returned exactly as they had been before... as a starting point I want to replace the hose with the genuine part if poss - or the right spec tubing...

Anyone know what the right spec is? Or be willing to pull there's off and measure it for me - oo er! please?

its 3.5mm ID. Same as diesel bleed off pipe.

Maybe you were just unlucky and had some rubbish pipe put on? I know ive bought some locally in the past and its died within twelve months. :ok

You should be able to source it with little trouble.

Try Wilco Motorsave if you have one nearby. You'll probably have to ask for it as my local Wilco keep tubing behind the counter

Or main dealer if it's closer/closest. Sure service bay manager would give you a few inches for free

Common size on modern range :ok

Thanks for the replies everyone. Happier now I know what to look for... Hopefully it'll solve my stalling issue for good this time!
