Hello there, it's not quite electrical but not sure where else to put it! I was trying to tighten the aux belt the other day, but couldn't get the bolt that attaches to the slide bracket to tighten up very well. On inspection the square part of the head isn't particularly square any more, the corners have rounded off - does anyone know where I can get a replacement from and what I should be asking for?

Bolts are not square headed they are hexagonal
it's a standard M8 bolt, is it the one that tightens into the thread in the alternator? If so it can be a bit longer with no trouble.

Should the other long bolt have a nut on it. On mine the bolt was pushed through only.

It depends upon the alternator - some just screw into a thread in the alternator, some go all the way through and have a nut. It is just a pivot bolt and has to allow the alternator movement to adjust the tension. It doesn't hold the alternator in its tension position, that is the function of the (square headed) bolt which clamps the alternator against the slotted arm.

Something learned, just never seen a square headed bolt on a T25 alternator

Yeh long hinge bolt has a nut on it.

Cheers guys. Sitting on top of the engine was a larger nut and washer, probably put aside by someone in the past meaning to get a smaller one then forgotten. Got bigger things to worry about now as my engine has started making a horribly familiar noise that has proved terminal in the past. NOT YET ANOTHER ENGINE FAILURE!
