hi all,

I've got dash lights that no longer work, so with it being dark now can't see what speed I'm doing.
it's a 1988 transporter

I was wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram for it that you email me, or any helpful hints?

I have checked dimmer thing and bulbs

Lightening strikes twice, our van has been struck with the same problem. Looking forward to a cold evening with the multimeter tracking down the fault. If I have any luck I'll let you know.

been down wires with trusty multi meter, just can't see where the problem is!!
The last option is to rewire.....not looking forward to that.

it can usually be down to the the connector to the main printed circuit for the dash pod. remove the connector and get abit of emery paper/sandpaper to clean the contacts.

Possibly the fault lies with the rheostat in the light switch. My dash lights only work when the dimmer is turned hard up.

i had to rewire my whole dash, as my plastic circuts were corroded. im pretty sure that the dash lights are wired to 59b connecter which is located at the back of your lighting switch ( next to where the wires go in the back of the switches are numbers eg 59b) . now there should be two wires coming out from the back of 59b, one of them will be your postive for your dash lights. now i just conected that to my dash light circuit that i made and then fed the negative too the earth box located behind the dash cupboard on the left ( looks like a round junction with lots of brown wires conected to it) but since you have got the plastic circuits, 59b if i can remember right will go to the main wire connecter for the plastic circuits . you will have to follow the wire from 59b to see which number it gos into on the dash wires connecter ( if i can remember they go from 1-14) then use that number for your positve connection.

i didnt use the standard bulbs though, i went to my local halfords and bought some blue lights with the cigarette lighter connecter and then dismantled them and took the blue lights and added them to my own circuit. with a bit of modification to the speedo housing they fitted in, worked and look really good

My dash lights did the same thing and I eventually tracked it down to an earth lead that had fallen off. They go into a ring of studs behind the fusebox - a couple were loose and dirty and replacing them for 50p sorted it out.
