Bargain LEDs

Went into B&Ms today - flogging off their Christmas stuff - most of it complete junk. However, just as I turned a corner they were just marking down sets of LED lights (fishing net style for indoor/outdoor use) - 180 high brighness LEDs with a really silly 31V power supply - £1.49. Heck you'd pay that for ONE LED in Maplins. Perfect when you need an LED - just cut one off. Long leads on them too. Might be useful for someones project?

Agree. I make all kinds of things with LEDs. Thats why I bought those end-of-line Christmas ones. You can make a big array for £1.49 - or use in all kinds of projects.

With a 31v power supply attached to them, you can see what an (excuse the pun) 'ropey' design it was but forunately it gave the spec of individual LEDs on the box (accidentally I think). There was a choice of multi-coloured or all white in the shop - opted for multi. Seemed a 'snip' for 180 of the blessed things.

Here is a rough spec for ordinary leds:

You can see how much brighter white ones are compared with warm white and then coloured.
