Clutch Slave Cylinder Pipe Help!

Hi

I am new here and was after some advice. I have read all the threads, and still have some questions.

My clutch on my 1990 T25 has lost fluid. It is leaking from the connection under the van between the solid pipe and the flexible one that goes to the slave cylinder. After lots of research om here, I have ordered the replacement flexible pipe from Just Kampers: http://www.justkampers.com/vw-t25-parts ... -1992.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It has now arrived and to look at it, the male and female ends look very large, a lot larger than the see through pipe that is currently fitted. I still haven't managed to remove the old one, I have it soaking in penetrating fluid at the moment. The other question that i have is the fact that both ends of this pipe are fixed, so how do you shrew it in at both ends.

I assume the male end will screw into the slave first with the other end disconnected so that I can tighten it up. What happens at the female end that meets under the chassis, how will this connect if when I get a spanner on it it will not turn? Is there an exposed male union under the van that is free to tighten up whilst I hold the flexible in place?

I hope someone can help, I'm not off work until Thursday to do it so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

KevCorks

Hi and welcome to Club 80-90 :ok

Tis a shame your first post is related to a problem rather than a "hello" ;)

Anyway, lets see if we can help. Firstly it is a long while now since I did a clutch slave pipe job, so cannot remember details, but, it is well known that JK often get parts wrong, or of poor quality. I looked at one of "our" premier suppliers list for this item and it does look different. I know this ain't a heap of help, but if you have a look at it on the Brickwerks pages and read the wording, you might get some insight into what the score is. Click here and Here

If nothing else, this reply will bump your question up the list and someone who knows more than I can contribute ;)

Thanks for the reply,

Sorry for not introducing myself in my first post, I'm not usually as rude[WINKING FACE]

This is my first Van, I've picked it up very cheap off a friend who'd had enough of it as he was not using it. It's a 1990 T25 Autohome.

The part I have received from JK looks like the alternate part on the brickwerks link you sent me, part no 251-721-477-J. This is the part number I found whilst trawling through posts on here.

Ill only tell I guess once I have removed the old one, however, I'm leaving the new one in the packet incase it is wrong. I'll take some pictures whilst I am doing it and post them on Thursday.

Thanks again
Kevcorks

Not sure what you have got fitted to your van. It would originally have had a flexible plastic clutch pipe between the slave cylinder and the chassis. The flexible you have ordered is for the earlier version with a metal pipe to the slave cylinder.

Thanks bigherb, I am aware of the earlier versions with the pipe, by I was under the impression that this was the replacement for the later models that had a flexible from the chassis to the slave. The part I have is 24 inches long so will reach between the two points.

Just a couple of pictures above showing the problem.

The connection between the flexible and the solid pipe was corroded and required replacing.

Got a patch kit from brickwerks, cut back the pipe and spliced them together. The flexible pipe I ordered was the correct one.

Now all bled and working fine,

Thanks for all your help guys[GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]
