Has anyone installed these, on you tube installation guide it shows them connected to the indicators wires, would they then work as day time lights when switched on the first side light position, even when you have square headlights (side and headlights separate)

The video is for USA models which have the sidelight in the indicators. You can't connect DRL's to the side lights. DRLs have to switch off when the sidelights are switched on and if they are 40mm or less from an indicator they have to switch off when that indicator is in use.

I have them installed as in the video. They make pretty good DRL's probably not much good by themselves at night. You could always connect them to a second position fog light switch with a relay if you have one. We don't have rear fogs here in the US so people here can connect them this way. They would look Smoking on that Green! Terrawagen just came out with a new LED package for these lights, brighter from what I have read.

Cheers guys, thanks for the info, glad I asked before contacting them up, not great with electrics, so l will install them then get someone to hook them up for me later, now I don't have the you tube guide to go by.

My understanding if you plan to wire them up as DRL's, in Europe (& UK) they must be approval marked for use as such, with the letters 'RL' on the lens.

This is to ensure that other road users are not put at risk by unduly dazzling inappropriate lighting.

Ok will check all this out with CVC where I bought them, but they do say they are not very bright on there website. I couldn't see any RL code on the lens and the rear is sealed in to the plastic so can't check.

I can't speak for the new model but they are not very bright. It's better to be seen than not, that's why I wired mine to the parking lights. Having looked over GW website this gizmo looks promising.

Not sure if I got the second position fog switch comment correct. Do they work independantly or together at the same time? I only have a one position Porsche fog switch and it's controlling my fogs.

I have a pair waiting to be fitted. How would you wire them Bigherb?

So is having them come on with the low beam a no no?

I was going to wire them to come on with ignition live, and go off with side lights via a 5 pin relay

I think the answer is in the title lol.

This is what the AA have to say about their function and how they should work legally:

Daytime running lights must be bright enough that they can be seen clearly in daylight and as a result are too bright to be used at night time when they would cause dazzle. Daytime running lights should therefore go off automatically when headlights or sidelights are switched on.

Daytime running lights don't have to be separate lights - some car manufacturers combine them with the front position lamps (side lights) in which case the daytime running lights will dim when the headlights are turned on.

If daytime running lights are located very close to indicator lights then the DRL on the appropriate side of the vehicle must turn off while the indicator is operating to avoid masking its signal.

Sorry, i'm being thick.

These are not marked as DRL's and they are not very bright. I would like to use them as and extra pair of lights that come in with the low beam (first switch position). Is this okay or not?

it will be fine, just like an extra set of side lights.
