Ply lining the interior and fitting flat pack units.

Hi all, I'm new to the scene and have no experience of building a campervan. Still I've decided to give it a go and since picking up my panel van a couple of months back have been buying bits in perpetration of the build. So, to my questions.
1. What thickness ply should I be using to line the van? Research is consistent with 3.6mm ply for the roof but I've seen people use 3.6 and 6mm for the walls as well as 9mm and 12mm for the floor. What are people's thoughts?
2. What are people's experience of the MDF flat pack units? Again research tells me that I need to seek it before painting but most of the sites with info are from the US and I can't work out an equivalent UK product. In addition any info on the best screws to use, filler to cover screw heads etc would be great. I already have the units so
I'm waiting to start painting them.
