spoke to eric at carb hospital today on exactly this issue: i.e. solex 32/34 pdsit-3: 3 things emerged:

1: refurb kit(s) £85 per carb
2: solex replacement carbs (very few left) £1500
3: Weber replacements (no choke) £300

He pointed out that the solexes are very complicated to work on. Against that is the fact that the new weber replacements will require reworking of throttle linkages.

I always feel he's telling me off for not knowing enough so I don't probe too deeply but hope this is useful

VJ .. Smoke Me A Kipper ..... nice avatar ..

If your a DG motor.. why the solex carb ???? thought solex were DF tiny valve + port GoSlo motors ?? only ??
What shape your air filter box ??
Do you have a DG motor with DF ancillaries ???

Throw solex away if you are DG Lump, buy second hand Pierburg Unit + release the poke of your DG ....
300 notes for aftermarket is still way over cost of second hand Pierburg + an overhaul [Gas sure whatsit guys on here re furb carbs i think ??]

Comments ??????????????????????????????????????

Ta George: avatar painted by my son as a birthday card! I seem to have posted this as a new thread, it was intended to be a reply to someone else's query, whoops!

Reason I'm inquring re solex is that my brother in law has Aircooled with solex and they need refurbing. I agree re pierburg, have a 2e3 myself and on dg w/c and works well. Sorry for the confusion- consider yourkipper smoked commander rimmer sir!

Cheers
