I am trying to work out a DIY rock'n'roll bed idea that incorporates a small drawer unit over the engine bay, I have seen pictures of this done before, but but i believe it was done in conjuction with forward folding caravelle seats... has anyone ever made a rock'n'roll bed a bit higher to allow for the extra storage or anything under the bed? If so would you be so kind as to throw some dimensions my way?

I think a few conversions have this sort of set up . I know my brothers does

lots of storage under normal rock and roll bed,raised section over engine can be pull out drawer, our lift up as i did,very simple construction for both.Based mine on a Reimo bed,fitted a box section on the back of seat to carry a table and acts as a support when the bed is down.
Have the Reimo plans if you need them.

I have nearly finished something similar in our Caravelle. It's not a rock & roll as I wanted to retain the original seats. I will see what I can do about taking and posting some pics.

I built my own, not carpeted yet though
