Hi, can anyone kindly tell me if all sliding door handles for T25's are interchangable? Mine broke looking hard to get exact piece. I see on the horrifically priced new ones that they have early and late, is this just cosmetic or is there a real difference?

In a pinch, does anyone know if a T2 handle would fit.

They are different early and late. That's not to say it isn't possible to convert but I am sure it would take a lot of skill if possible at all. Best bet is to source a second hand part and bite the bullet. Good luck Jon.

Where has it broken ? Mine snapped and I managed to splint it back together , been ok for 2 years up to now

Thanks for the information on the differences. Its helpful. Unfortunately its snapped inside in multiple pieces around the barrel. I believe some kids were using it as a climbing frame. Just one of those things.

If I can't find an appropriate handle in a week or so I'll make something up so that if I put my hand inside to unlock it at least I will be able to open it from the outside.

You could spend 20 quid on a second hand handle that will be at least 30 years old and had 30 years use and metal fatigue (change over year was 1984).
Or you could splash out and spend 55 quid at VW emporium or 59 quid at VW heritage to get a new one that's never been used and should hopefully last another 30 years.

Its true, thanks for the observation, however as I'm in Africa I'll try and see what I can get in Nairobi first. Scraped and worn out as it may be...

I had never come across that shop though so thanks, I've bookmarked it...

I'm thinking scrap yard prices in Nairobi will be better than here.
